Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Roadie

But I think "The Loaf" was a roadie for a different band.

Well it's gonna be hard to top any movie that has Meatloaf starring in it, let's be realistic
      Or maybe not, lol..

Except for that movie where Meatloaf competes for some rich guy's attention with Cyndy Lauper, Dennis Rodman, and Gary Busey and more loser past-their-primers

completely different movie, no real connection, except the name, and that they are involved in rock and roll
          spoiler alert.
technically, at no point in this movie is the roadie actually a roadie, he was fired before the movie started

This is a better film overall, but at least the original film looked at life on the road as opposed to the aftermath. Meat Loaf was a lot of fun in the first movie, but he was more of a buffoon rather than a roadie. The music was excellent in both films, but the 1980 version had original songs like "Everything Works if You Let It" by Cheap Trick.
            1980 "Roadie": 7/10 stars
            2011 "Roadie": 8/10 stars
