In no way would the US Embassy let some Rambondesque former CIA op go back into Instanbul city and raise holy hell again. He already wasted about a dozen Albanians, and wrecked about a dozen police cars. And all this after little miss sunshine throwing hand grenades from rooftops. Talk about your international incident.

Good point. But how did they even make it into the embassy alive?
Recall the daughter saying "Dad, what about the guards?" and dad says "They'll move aside." But the guards don't move. Instead, they use automatic weapons and unload several dozen rounds into the car. Their sole thought would have been "car bomb" and do anything to stop the driver. No way would anyone have survived or made more turns to get into the central courtyard of the embassy.
