Making the joke about Letterman's affair with an intern; lame, sophomoric, childish. Then he tries to be sincere and claims he's made no statement on the mess till last night. Then he says both he and Conan had bad ratings so he'll take the punishment by going back to 11:30 but because it's only a half hour Conan doesn't get hurt. "I don't have an agent or a manager, just my handshake"? Inference: people with managers and agents are cut throat, I'm not. "I'm going back to 11:30 so my staff can keep their jobs"? Generous to a fault.
He's digging his own grave.
Here's a question: where did they get the genius idea his show can work in a half hour format? What's he going to do in 20 minutes with 10 minutes of commercials? Lame, huge mistake. -

So Leno was being blasted by not snapping back at anybody who had taken shots at him? But when he actually does fire back at one of them, especially a guy who's from the outside looking in, he gets s*** for it. I should've knownanybody who doesn't like Leno will refuse to let him win, even when he covers his all of his bases.
Craig Ferguson said it himself when he was toying with making jokes about Letterman (his boss.) "My job is to take the biggest stories and have a little fun with it."
And sophomoric and childish? Letterman is blasting Leno for his jawa physical feature. Something Leno has no control of aside from massive surgery. Letterman made his own stupid mistake and thrust himself into the spotlight with what he did. Now if Leno were to fire back with shots about that gap in Letterman's teeth, then that would be bad. -

By making fun of Letterman's troubles you're basically saying it's his own fault that some psycho tried to extort millions from him because he had sex with a friend. You should be making fun of the crazy TV exec who tried to extort Letterman.
Even jay makes fun of his chin, so what? -

C'mon people, everyone here is still in primary school??
Lets stop trying to defend 'our guy' over some school yard insults and realize they are both COMEDIANS!! Dave tell a joke against Jay, OF COURSE hes going to fire back and vice versa.
He stayed away from Conan because he knows he says ANYTHING about that he looks like a monster and most of Conans arsenal is directly aimed at NBC anyway. Dave stepped in (and hes been reeeeeeaaaally funny lol) it was only a matter of time before Leno shoots back, seriously.
That said, his 'I'm just a guy who has $100 million in the bank, but only kicking and dragging back to 1130 so I can keep my staff from not going hungry' bit felt about as genuine as Conans Picasso painting he had on the show the other day.
The ass simply miss being in the 1130 slot and dont mind throwing over his 'friend' overboard to get it back. Just say that, at least we all know its the truth and maybe respect him more over it.
