Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — The September Issue

For those who have seen the movie, is it kid appropriate? I read the parental advisory on IMDB and they list only a little champagne drinking (which is fine as long as no one is slopping drunk)and one use of the 'f word'. The language concerns me. When is profanity used in the film? Is there anything else I need to be aware of?
My kid is all over my fashion mags and I thought it would be a nice "mom n baby" thing to go see this and a cartoon movie in the same day. 🙂
    Thanks!

If your kid is young enough that you are concerned about them seeing someone inebriated in a doc, then they are too young for this: It is adults talking about and working in the fashion magazine business.

I'm aware of what the movie is about; it's obvious. My question is "is it appropriate for kids?"
there is a vast difference between someone sipping champagne and someone getting completely wasted and barfing on camera. THAT'S what I don't want her to see.
Can anyone else offer more insight?

I'd say it's totally ok for kids, unless you're worried about the gratuitous display of vacuousness
As for the f-word, yes it's in there, once I think, it's really just mumbled in passing and I can't recall why the person said it actually.

This movie would most likely be too boring for children, rather than inappropriate.

AgreedI doubt your daughter will find a documentary about the making of Vogue to be interesting.
              Who gon' check me boo?!

Perhaps her daughter is more sophisticated and intelligent than you give her credit for? This film is absolutely child appropriate and not only that, I would say it is a wonderfully educational film that ALL children should see. The stupider ones will no doubt find it boring, but kids with brains will absolutely love it.

I watched it last night so it is fresh in my head.
There isn't really anything in it that is questionable or objectionable in my opinon. The "f" word is used at the beginning of the film and in passing. No biggie. I found the movie very slow so depending on how old the kid is will depend on if they are held by it. But I say give it a shot. You might want to try out Project Runway for a kid because of the pacing the challenges are fun.
                    Hope that helps.
