Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — August: Osage County

C'mon now, is this not one of the best lines of the movie? Obviously there are deeper, more heartfelt lines in here, but this one just made me crack up. Maybe it's just because I'm a smoker as well, but I'll always remember Streep's delivery of this line. Just perfect.

Yes! As well as when she says the Rev didnt talk about the good stuff. Man was a world glass alcoholic more than 50 years. I DIED in the theater and I remember being one of only a few who laughed in the crowded theater.

That was itthe delivery was a bigger commentary than the actual line itself. anyone else would have botched it.

I didn't get to see the film in the theatre, but I saw the play three times on Broadway and the audience was howling at much of it. It felt to me that the movie didn't have the sucker punch humor the play did, though maybe it played differently in the theatre. Were other people laughing at it?

Oh, yes, one of the best ziners ever almost on a par with, "Go ahead, make my day." I know a committed smoker who should love it.
