I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a true Star Trek fan can feel, a fan at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I get my new 4k 55" tv on time to watch it on Thursday. I hope to finally see a new quality Star Trek series that isn't woke. I hope this new series is as good as it has been in my dreams. I hope.

Well, I finally watched it. Took a few tries.
First, they got the right guy to play Pike. Second, they got the right woman to play Number One. Both fit into their roles nicely. The effects are nice but nothing that made me go 'wow!'. It's pretty standard stuff. So is the music.
That's the good and now prepare for the bad. There's a lot.
La'an Noonien-Singh is the new security officer, she speaks with an annoying British accent, she has the typical backstory of every female security officer, boring, tough and always right! She puts Spock and the Captain in their place, she always knows better.
Spock - I appreciate Leonard Nimoy's Spock more every time I see another actor take on the part and this one is the worst yet, he got buff for the role, his acting is unimpressive and there was not one single moment I felt he was effective
T'Pring - apparently, Vulcans are just as horny as anyone, they can't keep their hands off one another, they say the word 'query' constantly and kiss passionately in public restaurants, she is attractive but that's about it, and their parents arranged the marriage, not them
Christine Chapel - is supposed to be a nurse, and a universe class geneticist (how handy is that!) and I guess is trying to provide some comic relief, she has no talent for that, she looks ridiculous, weird accent, whatever she is trying to hide
Dr. M'Benga besides the fact he didn't serve with Pike, he now speaks with a thick Nigerian accent and that makes it hard to follow what he is trying to convey, another boring character, but he shares a strong embrace with Pike
Ortegas, the spunky lesbian (don't try and tell me otherwise) navigator who is always quick with the quip (none of which works), she looks mighty tough, she reminds me of the gay character in The Brady Bunch Movie who had the hots for Marcia
Uhura, we go from a professional highly competent Nichelle Nichols, who did a lot with very little screen time to someone who behaves like a giggling schoolgirl and we are told right away she is supposed to be some kind of prodigy, uh huh, the worst moment in the episode was when Pike speaks out their mission statement and she says 'cool!'
Chief Kyle - I am assuming is the same Kyle we see in many episodes of TOS, he is now no longer British, apparently Asian and he doesn't know his job so Ortega has to tell him how to do it, he is just a man, after all
Robert April was not a black man at all. Now he is because, well, we have to show the world how 'diverse' we are, no matter what.
One thing I noticed is that almost all the cast is female.
They go out of their way to show images from 1/6/21 but nothing about the much more damaging riots by BLM and Antifa. This is a liberal show after all. To liberals, 1/6 was a real insurrection. Of course it wasn't, which speaks to the stupidity of the neoliberal.
The story is weak. Inadvertent contamination of a society by Starfleet and they have to fix it. I expected so much more for a pilot.
The rumor was that Lt James Kirk showed up at the end. No, it was his brother George Samuel Kirk, who never served in Starfleet, but here he is. Well, at least he isn't black and female now.
Liberals have this bizarre notion that wind turbines need to be marketed, even for a show set in the 23rd century, they have virtually unlimited energy resources, these turbines are ugly and they kill animals and yet they have them? Are liberals always stupid? Rhetorical question. Of course they are.
Overall, a very weak 4/10 -
