Everyone on here is so concerned with why there is this loop and that loop and how it connects etc etc. I think you are all missing the point. I must be the only one to think this n that's rare as I usually am pretty good at reading a movie. What I got from this movie is the entire loop sequence doesn't mean anything. I see everyone so concerned how a new loop starts when everyone dies or this or that but I'm blown away by this. None of it is real. I thought it was clear that she killed her boy and then most likely killed herself from the guilt. She says that was the old mommy who hit you not me. She clearly beat the child and eventually snapped n killed him. The car crash and everything else we see in this movie never happens. Yes there is a loop in regards to the whole boat thing, but its just her soul trying over and over with regret to undo and cope with the fact she murdered her son Did anyone else think this or am I alone?

Well, the easiest explanation to any movie is that it didn't really happen or that it all happened inside someone's head/dreams/purgatory/etc Some would call it the Tommy Westphall syndrome.
It could be the case, but even if it is, people still want to figure how each loop interacts with each other. The whole point of the movie is to force the viewer to try to understand the nature and/or meaning of the loops, no matter if they're real or fictive. -

i thought that most of it happened, sorta, kinda, and i agree there is no "loop" (although the metaphor of hell being reliving the worst moments of your life over and over is in there, i don't think that is literally "what is happening").
it's an unreliable narrator, and the narrative is out of order.
the main character can't bring herself to believe that she is anything other than a victim.
as such: she beat her kid. she had a car-crash that was her fault and her kid died. she went on the boat trip suffering a complete mental break after the crash. she killed everyone else. you're just seeing that story through the prism of delusionsomeone who can't bring themselves to accept what they have done.
it's a similar structure to the lost highway, with a bit of timecrimes thrown in as a red herring.

I believe she killed her son by hitting him at the house. She got blood on the dress she intended to wear to the boat, so she packed that and the boy's body into a bag, changed into tee and shorts, loaded the bag into her trunk and went on to enjoy a day on the boat. The boat capsized in a storm and everyone died but Heather; the rest is her punishment.
