After I saw this movie I recall this episode from TNG. If you never have seen Star Trek, I highly recommend this episode. Star Trek isn't necessarily a show you have to watch from the beginning, like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones or 24.
If you have netflix go to season 5 and look this episode up: Cause and Effect. The Enterprise is stuck in a time loop where it continues to get destroyed but the characters begin to experience deja vu and try to send messages to the next time loop.
It's a great take on the time loop and very well executed. Has anyone seen this episode?

Yeah it is THE time loop story. I haven't seen it done that well. The breaking in the last act happened a bit too conveniently but otherwise it was fantastic. Especially the appearance of the other ship's captain at the end.

No that's another one I didn't think of! Coincidentally, in "Cause and Effect" they are all playing poker and start to experience deja vu.

Yeah, that episode (or the decision at the end) was in a way similar to Star Trek: The Motion Picture when they encountered that asteroid in the warp field. Kirk is like, "blast it with lasers!" and Decker goes, "Belay that order"
Picard kept giving the wrong directions which lead to the Enterprise getting destroyed and Riker's suggestion was all but ignored. It was Data that finally saw the pattern of 3's that kept appearing throughout this episode and he clued in that the it was the 3 pips on Riker's collar, and that it was Riker was correct all along.

The very episode that at once turned me into a Trek fan. 😄
