I don't understand the part about when Cosby was talking about having sex with the secretary and Rivi said he was having phone sex with another secretary. I don't know much about the law, but can someone fill me in. Thanks.

secretaries from the district attorney's office were having sexual relations with the star witness before he was set to testify.. they figured once he got on the stand the defense would use this to discredit his character, and perhaps discredit the entire district attorney's office, so they decided to make a plea bargain deal with griselda instead of taking it to court

The bitch's name is Sherri Rossbeck. If I were the cops and the DA, I would have someone beat the crap out of her behind the scenes for messing up a case. I still do not understand why this would ruin the case even if it added complications. If it was that easy to mess up a case, couldn't more rich defendants do that by bribing these bitches? How does a secretary indulging in a conflict of interest still invalidate basic facts?

Because a lot of the "basic facts" were, in fact, eyewitness testimony from Ravi, so if the defense attorneys were any good and you can bet Griselda hired some damned good ones they'd use this to undermine the credibility of the witness and the deals the DA's office made to get his testimony. Eyewitness accounts are only as useful as the credibility of the eyewitness, and if the defense could convince a jury that Ravi's relationship with the DA's office wasn't completely professional, they could ensure that the effectiveness of the testimony was heavily diluted.
