Inane, superflous dialogue bordering on the neurotic, painful to watch and at best this movie is irritating. I kind of guessed that I was in for something that wasn't particularly well put together when one of the sisters gets a cut on her forehead inside the ministry building which then is miraculously healed completely in the following choppy cuts. I dare say there are dozens more continuity gaffs and plot holes in this dire effort of a film but unfortunately I could only bear it for 40 minutes. By then I was just so sick of the "turn the camera off!" and "we're American" and "let's keep going" that I had to turn it off for the sake of my own sanity. I really enjoyed Cloverfield so I DO like the genre but this movie is like trying to watch a show you didn't want to miss on a TV that's on the blink you want to hit the TV! or you may in fact want to throw a brick at the screen in the hope of hitting one of the actors. Utter dross!

I couldn't agree more. This was simply awful. And I liked Cloverfield a lot.
I made it about 2/3 of the way through and I couldn't stand it anymore. The middle third was more of exactly what you describe screaming, crying, "I'm an American" (like nobody would have guessed), and the interminably annoying camera cut outs, wash outs, fade outs, color distortions. sheesh. I skipped to the end and I swear it wasn't any different except you could "see" the monster which reminded me of something out of the 50s Swamp Thing genre.
How could anyone make such a complete dog of a movie in 2008. Just freaking awful. -

This movie, and I use that term loosely, is so ABYSMAL I had to make a point of logging on to give it one star (even though I don't rate many movies on this site). I seriously hope I never see any of those actors again.
