Following Jesus' teachings, which most don't do.
A lot of Christians think they can do whatever they want and just ask for forgiveness, but Jesus knows when it's sincere, and Jesus wants you to try to be a good person.

Historic precendence doesn't necessarily correlate with accuracy. Jesus definitely didn't mean for his teachings to be taken as a get out of jail free card, the way modern right wing Christians treat it.

So essentially I'm saying that one doesn't have to be devout to be a Christian. You can be a mediocre one too.

Just believe.
And remember. Belief is not just a statement. It is action. Belief is lived. So you must not only confess that Jesus is the Son of God and that His resurrection grant forgiveness of sin you must act like it.
