Seriously, I've never seen so many people take their time to post their hatred for a movie on imdb. Tree of Life has less haters, but way more aggressive. Some of you seem triggered at the thought of others even liking this movie. It's kinda funny, but also sad.

The people that hate this film hate quality character driven dramas as there are no explosions , fight scenes or car chasers. They're the ones who eat up nonsense like the super hero crap that we are flooded by . And the reason studios approved 10 of those horrible " fast and furious " films .

No, haters and trolls are NOT the reason, according to IMDB administration. The small number of users and the difficulty and COST of upgrading the boards to fit with the rest of the technical improvements to the site were the determining factors. One of the administrators posted a long explanation of the various reasons (he specifically said trolls were NOT one). I can dig it up and repost it here if anyone is all that interested (it's long).
The bottom line is, very few IMDB users are users of the message boards, and that number is steadily shrinking. -

I've expressed my thoughts in other threads and blame the parent company, Amazon, for this wrongheaded corporate decision.
Of course it's a decision made by Amazon. Given that Amazon is very much a minimalist, cost-cutting company, it is not going to keep on providing a relatively expensive feature (in this case, the boards) from which it receives no adequate, in its eyes, compensation. There are legal ramifications, in that the boards are constantly inundated with links to illegal downloads of mainly new films, and this is a copyright infringement that IMDB is unable to respond to quickly enough - it depends on individual users to report those posts, which are generated by bots at a speed of 30-40 per hour on different boards. They can't keep up without hiring more personnel, which is anathema to Amazon. They are also liable for libelous posts or those that advocate criminal violence etc., and these engage their legal team at a high per-hour cost.
You only have to look at what has happened to the Washington Post since it was recently acquired by Amazon. They are now regularly publishing "fake news" that has not been properly vetted, presumably due to cost-cutting that prevents adequate boots-on-the-ground research before publication. Two recent examples are the stories about Russians hijacking the Vermont utility grid, and the "propornot" list of "Putin-controlled" websites. Independent investigation showed both of these to be totally spurious. Now you have to question pretty much everything that is published in the WaPo. Amazon doesn't spend money to get things right, just wants it fast and cheap. -

I posted probably the most hated posts on these boards, but I always had my reason for not liking this movie. And I will always dislike this movie for it's reason's. If that's kid's life is the life the american people live everyday then how can we become a better humanity?

I can understand having a reason for disliking it, or even hating it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I guess I'm just taken back by the apparent necessity people feel to
voice
that hatred, especially for a movie.
I don't know if the kids life is meant to portray an American life, but it's a pretty normal life. I noticed that a lot of the struggles that he had were internal, not really dealing with material things. Regardless of what class/country your upbringing is in, everyone has these. They're what make us human, good or bad.
Things like Masons parents divorce and the dwindling relationship with his father (This one stuck with me the most because my parents divorced/had a beep dad and the impact it has on you as an individual is big)
Getting drunk/trying drugs/having a girlfriend. 'Exploring' in that sense. Trying to figure out who he is. The scene where his photography teacher lectures him also hits home. Tapping into your own true potential (In this case, Mason's) is easier said than done.
I don't know if this film is an examination of problems necessarily. Some of the circumstances of Mason's upbringing are certainly less than desirable, but even then..a lot of those things are the result of human mistakes. It's human to make mistakes. To take away those things would be to take away what defines our own humanity.
