Need help finding a movie/TV episode

Hello, I am trying desperately to find the name of a movie or TV episode that was described by another user on the board for the film Midnight Lace. Here is what the user wrote:
"There was a movie, or an detective episode that I'm racking my brain to remember. Basically it went something like this
A man starts doing things to make his wife go bonkers. He is in collusion with a maid in the house that starts wearing the wife's dresses, and the woman ends up (somehow) wearing the maids. The man gets two doctors (who may be in on it) to come and observe the "wife" (who is actually the maid wearing the wife's dresses and acting all crazy) and commit her to an institution. On the day the funny farm wagon comes, some how the wife gets the better of them and they end up carting off the maid instead. I cannot remember the name of the episode, but it certain has similarities with both Gaslight and this movie (Midnight Lace)."
This summary sounds very intriguing and I was wondering if anyone knew which movie or TV episode he was referring to. Please help!

Something like this does happen in the British Miniseries Fingersmith.
Which in turn also happens in The Handmaiden (2016) which is based off of the novel The Fingersmith.

Thank you so much for your reply. It does sound interesting. I just read the summary on IMDB. I'm not sure if this is the right movie/tv episode based on comparing the summaries though.
