I can't believe I spent an hour and forty minutes watching this. The plot is non-sensical with characters that have flatlined brain activity. This film ultimately boils down to mistreatment of women and a peacock's display of patriarchal undertones. This is a good example of cheap shocks, and the main reason why the horror genre isn't respected today.

I'm not sure I understand why you though this movie was misogynistic. It portrays the male characters as either idiots or ruthless b*stards. Neither of which are positive reinforcements of the gender. If it hadn't been for the ending, I would have suggested it might have even have had feminist undertones as the lead was such a fighter..

It seems all we know about the international sex trade is from watching these movies. There's a lot things to make issue, one of which is killing the girl with the yeast infection. I don't think the slavers would care if she had full blown AIDS, as long as she could stand on her own 2 feet.
If they really cared about their health, the girls would get a quick examination & some blood tests before they're shipped out. Not likely any slavers would care to go through with the expense & risk of doing so.
Unfortunately, these girls are sold a dime a dozen & they're used up & discarded. There's always more to replace them.

Yeah, cause you would surely be all smart and clearheaded in their situation I really can't understand how you can see this movie as misogynic.

Agreed, I don't think I've watched a worse film in ages, utter crap and with more holes in it than Swiss cheese, terrible.

What was misogynistic about this movie? In almost every film you can find someone complaining about the movie being misogynistic on these forums. Is it that any film that has women in it is misogynistic? Is that how it works? Whether a female character is portrayed negatively or positively, someone is always calling sexism. So in other words, if a female character is being treated negatively, or acting negativelyit's misogynistic. So the only other possibility of the character is to be completely bland and indistinguishable. And when that happens, people call out sexism because it makes women seem like objects. I mean seriously, it's becoming comical. This truly proves how brainless our society has become. I sometimes wonder how people like the OP can function in every day life.

There's different forms of misogyny. Some theorists say (rightfully or not) that a film that only shows women as victims and draws a great part of its content from the visual deciption of women being tortured, enslaved, imprisoned or hurt can be misogynist in its way. Just to make it more clear for you.

"Shuttle" is not more misogynistic than "Deliverance" is anti-male. It just shows what happens when you travel alone and defenseless, make rides at night in deserted cities and that you're dumb enough not to understand quickly what's gonna happen to you.
Adventure and excitement have a prize: this movie tells how big the prize can be. Modern life can be extremely dangerous, people like the OP tend to forget that and bark at every movie which doesn't end with a happy ending for the female characters, as though females nowadays should always be allowed to have fun without thinking of the consequences. That never ceases to amuse me.
