Why not just register a construction company?

I really didn't get it. Why acquire somebody else's construction company why not register your own? The rest of the business is done through bribes anyway so there is no problem with the competition.

One of the things they screwed up. In the book, the Zec and the Archers owned competing companies. Zec's started winning the government contracts through bribery, Ted Archer discovered it, so they killed him. His wife continued investigating, so they killed her, too.

The whole conspiracy was a damp squib. The Zec travels the world in disguisebuilding infrastructurebut it's a big deal because there is bribery? Who cares?

that's one of the things i like about this movie - the stakes are SO LOW. I mean, who cares if there's a corruption scandal bleeding money out of the city? It (the movie) doesn't even involve any city officials!
But at least now we know how Bane planted explosives in all the bridges and tunnels in Gotham - Leibendauer Ent. had been setting it up for years for the League of Shadows!
