Ok Let's admit even though Dexter is one of the best TV series ever IMO.The last season sucked
Even though there may be lots of reasons why it's sited.I really think deb finding out Dexter secret was what led to its ruin..
I have to admit it had a lot of shock value like Rita s death But after the intial shocking and interesting moments. It grew Luke warmIt seemed like her sucking the life Outta him
Plus it had only one way to end
What do you think ruined the show??? -

I think the fans that follow the stupid mob mentality that "OMG FINAL SEASON SUCKED SEEWWWW BADW(FJ#W(FJ(@#F#" is what completely ruins the show.
Also, what the other poster said. Scott Buck is complete trash. -

Yeah there does seem to be some of that.
There are stronger and weaker seasons, but I liked all of them. The ending was the only possible ending since so many fans have different preferences for the fate of Dexter. Some wanted him to die (screw that), some wanted him to go to prison (no thanks), and some wanted him to live happily ever after (me).
So the ending where you get to imagine what happens next was the perfect way to end it. My only real complaint is Deb dying. -

Well, now that you mention it, maybe the ending was the best possible for what you just said. But you can't ignore the fact that the writing of S8 was a little bit mediocre and not on par with other seasons..
Answering the OP question I think Hannah was the main reason, and the decisions around her that 'harmed' the show. Still the show was never a bad one.
And I'm a little dissapointed because nobody ever finds out about Dexter and I get to imagine what would happen in said case. Because that would have been a pretty good plot for a final season. -

Rita's killing WTF. I was sure it was going to become a dream, but when it didn't thats just a beep disgusting thing to put in a TV series. Unless people get off on sick stuff like that I can't see how it would do anything but turn you off the series like it has now for me. It wasn't a good decision it was sick lol, I've no issue at all seeing the other justified killings, but with a baby and 2 kids as the main characters ffsIt's all gonna be despair for their family now, and Dexter is even one of the suspects as he was first on the scene and wasn't crying after (as he can't cry lol). The whole series will go to beep now, can't be watching anymore which is a shame. But to have 18 yr olds and younger watching that moment I dread to think how shook up they would have been, and im 10 years older than them.

You don't seem to get what the overall story was for the season.
..and if you think this was going to be a show that was always sunshine and puppies I don't know what to tell you. Also, to be honest I would argue the show took more of a lighter tone in it's later years (though that was because the writers were trying to force feed comedic moments that didn't always feel legit).
..and if you're 28 and can't handle a character death you may want to toughen up. Life is a lot more difficult than dealing with a tv show death. -

I just finished season 6 and am a couple episodes into season 7, after having watched the first 5 seasons years ago when it was new. Once I get through seasons 7 and 8, am I going to be disappointed? Without spoiling it, can you at least tell me if the series gives us closure? Or did it completely "jump the shark" after Deb found out about Dexter when she caught him killing the DDK?

Well, it has closure for Dexter, but not so much as for other( secondary) characters.
It doesn't end on a cliffhanger, so that's good, but I did not like some of the decisions made on S8, and don't keep your expectations too high for the finale because it may dissapoint you in some ways. Still you might like it more than other people.
Enjoy. -

What?! When did I said that I couldn't handle a character's death? I said that I did not like some decisions made by the writers and that I'm dissapointed on how it all went down. I never said what you are answering to. I can tell the differnce between real life and a TV-Show and I'm not going to cry all day because someone died.
I invite you to read again my post correctly this time.
