Better written, better songs, better acting shame it didnt get the attention this movie got.

I agree it was better but if Dreamgirls would've stayed Drama over Musical,not sure I'd still give the nod to 5Hs?
Though I think the Temptations TV Docudrama(?) was better than both.
I like Dreamgirls a lot but I think making it a musical took it down a notch? -

And I honestly feel like The Five Heartbeats has good elements, but they do not properly congeal into a cohesive film. It feels more like a two-episode miniseries than The Temptations, which actually is one, does. I also have issues with a few of the anachronisms present The Five Heartbeats. -

I just believe it would've been better as an actual Drama and maybe it's because of the "Acting" is better than the music/songs; which weren't bad but Eddie, Hudson, Beyonce', Foxx,others acting is better than the songs.
And yes 5H played with the Dates a little:):) not as bad as the movie "Streets of Fire" which you can't tell what DECADE it is in that movie, ever:):)
Which I believe the Temptations learned the lessons from 5Hs in going Miniseries; well that and I bet it was a lot cheaper?
