I reviewed A Christmas Carol
I don't why, but I figure I'm going to need a great Christmas episode fresh in my head in case I find myself unable to tolerate the new one. -

This is coming from someone who spends a considerable amount of time coming to the board for a show they despise, and generally being a complete beep to everyone they encounter because they clearly have nothing better to do. Suuuuuure, Keekos is the sad one..

A considerable amount of time? haha I literally pop in here once every few days, nothing compared to the people who practically live here. I don't despise the show, I despise what it has been mutilated to.

I think once you start using words like mutilated to describe a Tv show, it might be a good idea to check the back of your sofa to see if your sense of proportion has fallen down there.
1 mark deducted for not being Curse of Fenric. Insert 'The' into previous if you are Ant-Mac -

Its hard to disagree that recently there have been many many more silly monsters than earlier.
Virtually every villain from series 7-9 has been dumb, series 1-5 had occasional dumb ones but not that many in general. The Slitheen were pretty serious with that one joke aside, to be honest. Give that two-parter a re-watch, the tone of the episode was very serious. -

I don't deny that that two parter was aiming for serious, but fart jokes are such a particularly childish, lazy, and witless brand of humor that it completely missed the mark by virtue of that alone. For the most part I could take the adversaries in Series 7-9 far, FAR more seriously. Even the lion man. Even the ones who were scared off by the threat of a shattered reputation. At least those are things I can kind of understand. I will never be able to understand the thought process of why the Slitheen have that feature of all features. As far as I'm concerned, bodily function humor and tension are two antithetical storytelling elements; they cannot survive in a room with each other.
