He admitted to getting wasted every weekend during the shoot. Felt he could have given a better performanceputting the bottle down probably would have helped. Still enjoyed the movie but yeah, re-watching itJRM could have done better.

is that why he spoke with a british accent instead of an irish one even though he IS actually irish and his character was from ireland????????

He spoke with a British accent because Chris is Irish born and probably ashamed of his humble beginnings.
He adopts a posh British accent from all the crusty old English rich fops he meets at the tennis club.
