SPOILERS.
I would have liked to see this character end up with Nola, but the character "Chris" was a pathetic jerk. We see that he explored many options, he was contemplating leaving his wife for Nola, and as we see he tells his friend what would he do for a living, THAT obviously scared him, this character is a classic coward who puts his trust in worldly things example a job and money. His feelings towards Nola was obviously just lust, and he clearly didn't love his wife, but he was willing to stay with her because he loved the job, the penthouse and the expensive lifestyle. It's pathetic. When Nola told him she was pregnant he tried to tell her to get an abortion, she wouldn't do that and he obviously didn't want a child with her, she became obsessed with him calling him all the time, he obviously felt that the only option was to kill her. It was horrible that the police could never find any evidence on him, but the thing is we see that he's starting to lose it after the murders when the dead people talk to him, so even though he never got arrested and charged with murder, how do we know that his conscience won't drive him mad in the end?!
