A lot of people say that in the end the note saying "people never change" means that Hardenburg when back into his usual capitalist self, and evetually told on them
BUT I interpreted the last note in a whole different light
The note saying "people never change" to me meant that Hardenburg was still a revolutionary at heart. And that he let them go into his home again to 'legitimize' them as a group.
Obviously they had to 'break' into his home again to leave the note. But why would they do that or risk it a second time? unless Hardenburg let them in on purpose.
By letting them leave the note and then having Hardenburg reporting on them, the edukators would of gather more notoriety and more recognition as a revolutionary group. -

a) the note said "SOME people never change"
b) the note was placed in their old flat (or possibly Jule's), not Hardenberg's house
c) we see Hardenberg pondering an idea before we're shown the police scene - what was he so undecided about, if not whether he should call the police or not? He never agreed with them on their methods (breaking and entering, kidnapping as a last resort). -

I find it amusing how everyone wants to complicate his betrayal at the end.
It is so obvious to me what happened. Had he been single he NEVER would have
called the cops. His wife must have given him an ear full. So the Hen pecked
guy called the cops.
