at first he obviously seemed like a really nice, guy. Then of course Michael's dad dies and he blames Morty, this is obviously just his job so its not really a bad thing. But he makes Michael keep the remote claiming he can't take it back, If Morty was the angel of death with a magic remote he would clearly have to power to revoke it, I think it was more of a fun game for him, especially since he was being so mysterious about who he was.
