Chuckles? I think the last scene with him was when Leckie got back from the med station and handed him a comic book. It was right when Sledge got over there and Phillips was shipping out.

Nope, the last we see of Chuckler is when Sledge is going to the hills of Peleliu after the airfield battle. He sees a whole division returning from a fight, including colonel Chesty, and Chuclker is seen in wounded and being carried by some soldiers. Sledge even stops for a moment to ask him what happened.
