So remember that creepy guy that picked up Neil in a bar and after taking his shirt off had a lot of marks on his body?
Well, those are Kaposi's sarcoma, often connected with HIV/AIDS. So Neil maybe got the HIV, maybe not.
The guy was so creepy I had to turn off the movie for a few minutes. -

The guy was creepy, but for me it was his attitude that was off-putting and not the KS lesions. For the record, he asked Neil for a massage and we later find out that he watched Neil wank off from across the room, but that's all the contact they had. If Neil wound up with HIV/AIDS, it is way, way more likely that he contracted it through one of his other encounters. He seemed to be pretty new to the concept of condoms, and he was giving oral sex to men on a regular basis, not to mention the fact that he was raped. Plenty of chances for something to happen, but not from that particular guy.

They didn't have sex, all Neil did was massage him. It was a very important character moment for Neil as he got a "what the hell am I doing?" thought.
Also the man was just looking for some contact and not to feel like a freak.
