If more people accepted this basic truth you've stated, then I'd bet that these boards would be much less dysfunctional, and ugly. In the recent past, I disagreed with one self-described Fanboy; later he looked up my watchlist and proceeded with a vile character assassination across the boards, based purely on my personal taste. As if it were a social disease. Apparently, many Ops are just as dysfunctional as the IMDb community.
Whew! I feel better. Thanks, friend, for shinning a bit of sanity in a swiftly darkening corner of the interwebs.

Ehm yes it actually does. Taste is not to be evaluated, what bad taste is for you might be good taste for another person. Taste is not objective.
