Does he not get why voters that are seeing their communities ravaged by drugs or by seeing illegals come into their country bringing drug problems or drugs with them would say, "I remember when there were better times. I dont like illegal immigration. I dont like softer sentences for drug dealers. I dont like legalization of gateway drugs etc" Does he actually think its the meth heads going to the voting place and cheering for Trumpsorry its the meth heads parents going to the voting place to vote for a president who would help them. Its the parents of a child who overdosed on Heroin supplied by illegals who are going to go vote for Trump. Its not the drug addicts. Its the people seeing their communities ravaged.
In Ohio these people who were proud union Democrats in places like Toledo, Youngstown, Akron etc..are now out of work or working for 1/10th of what their union job made and theyre watching their kids get addicted to drugs flowing up from Mexico. So when a guy like Trump gets on stage and says im going to get your job back and stop the inflow of drugsof course theyre going to vote for that guy.
I know at his heart he is a comedian but he used to be somewhat intelligent. I think the weed finally destroyed him. I watched him with Jane Fonda and realized the dudes mind was gone. It was like random thoughts coming out of his mouth with no follow through.
Fonda:Women are united against Trump
Maher:More White women voted for Trump than Hillary
Fonda: We are going to figure that out and unite
Maher:Ok sounds good.
Maher: DOnt you think celebrities alienate a lot of voters who are more worried about waking up and having a job than what Miley Cyrus thinks?
Fonda: no
Maher: Youre right.
Hes just lost it. I think his producers must know hes now a moron and thats why he has all Dems on now. -

LOL..good points. He actually lost it a long time ago. The irony is right after Trump won he was conciliatory and said now maybe the Dems won't be such apologists for Muslims now. Then he even INVITED him on his show.

I think Bill was pointing out the irony that when black people complain about lack of jobs or drugs in their communities, they're sneered at by conservatives and told to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and fix their culture.
When white people starting having the same problems, conservatives see them as helpless victims. The "other" is blamed (i.e. illegals bringing in drugs), and the government is supposed to fix it.
If white working class people are being victimized, it's really by corporate America, too many of whom have no sense of patriotism or civic obligation, and would willingly throw workers under a bus to make their quarterly results look better to Wall Street. -

And thats what the white voting class is doing. Sorry but in black communities where the Dems have failed themto keep voting for Democratic candidates is insanity. These white union workers are pissed off at the corporations toohence why theyre cool with tariffs and with not letting our corporations get away with loop holes or ending carried interest. Bill doesnt get Trump's support and I thought he did. They are people who no matter how many times you tell them, "The economy is going good" realize that just because theyre working at McDonalds doesnt mean they dont miss their steel mill job that paid $30 an hour. No matter how much McD's stock price has gone up or how they now count as employed. Conservatives arent seeing themselves as helpless victims. Theyre changing parties and voting for the guy they think will listen.

I must concede that, watching the exchange between Maher and Fonda, to me they both seemed thoroughly baked.

Wow! Way to take personal responsibility for NOTHING. Many American workers are so unskilled, lazy and entitled that many American companies have turned to Spanish-speaking illegals with 6th grade educations. And who's fault is that? Not the American workers, not the American companies, but the poor, desperate people south of the border who are trying to provide for their families and build a better life. And I get to pay taxes ($20,000 worth one year) to build you guys a wall because you can't compete in the with them for jobs? I'd rather pay for you to get an education or even for welfare.
Your drug bullsh*t is downright insulting to anyone who actually understands what's going. The "War on Drugs" has been going on since the 1980's. It has been an abysmal failure in America, but it is far worse in Mexico. You can see it as Mexico "poisoning" American, but if you are capable looking at the OTHER side, the American appetite for drugs has destroyed MEXICO. You think they want to live in a corrupt country, run by drug cartels? America is PAYING the murderous drug dealers who are destroying Mexico and it is THESE DEALERS who are "poisoning" America, but a whole lot of people are certainly WILLINGLY drinking the poison and paying "blood money" for the privilege. The most recent heroin epidemic was also largely started by the AMERICAN pharmaceutical companies pushing doctors to over-prescribe painkillers, so when addicts can't afford the expensive painkillers, they turn to cheaper Mexican heroin.
The point is if Trump supporters want to know who their REAL enemy is, they just need to go find the nearest mirror. Immigrants have always been a source of strength for America. It's the lazy, self-entitled, drug abusing racists who take no personal responsibility for anything that are its biggest WEAKNESS.

Agreed. I remember reading a quote from a middle-America woman saying something like, "I'm just scared for my son is he just going to end up working at McDonalds?"
Well, heck, I dunno! Is he planning to go to college or trade school and get some skills, or does he just expect to stumble out of high school with his 2.3 GPA and find corporate America lined up to hire him for $30/ hr? -
