This is a little rant on my dislike of the character played by Jennifer.
No good for nothing woman that makes dumb decisions that only accommodate her. Mostly, the thing that bothered me was that she was a lazy mother, meaning she didn't put a strong effort into raising her daughter properly. All she wants to do is get beep Case and point, the sheriff, after meeting him for what seemed an hour, she goes and basically says, yeah lets bang but strictly casual.
So my guess is. she chose the role because she said, "oh i can do this, because i'm a slut with many kids in real life as well"
PR woman, what do you expect, i guess. -

She wasn't the best mother. She did love her daughter. I believe she didn't love herself. She felt guilty and was somewhat punishing herself. She didn't believe she deserved anything better. She was also lonely. She didn't seem to have any of her own family members left.
