This is a retcon sequel and belongs in the same franchise as the old one.
Batman Begins and Man of Steel are true reboots since they ignore the previous franchises and belong in their own universes and have their own new franchises.
Retcon sequel means a sequel that ignores some sequels like Elm Street 3, Leatherface Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, Halloween H2O, Jurassic World and this.

Well it's a sequel to superman 1 and 2, and was intended to revive/reboot the series.
Jurassic World doesn't do this, it is officially part 4, it does not ignore the events of Lost World or JP3, it's those events which lead the park to be bought by it's current owner (who died in JW) It's mentioned in the characters bio.
