Unless John C. Reilly walks out of a restaurant or an award show when they serve meat, he is a hypocrite. He is one of my favorite Actors, but I lost a lot of respect for him over this poor decision.
Do some research before posting lies about Lars Von Trier on the Internet.
The SPCA kills thousands of dogs in America a year and they're not even dying.
The animal was being put-out-of-its misery. It was kept alive longer for the movie.

No animals were put to death during production. The story is a urban myth based on a misunderstanding of some storyboards for a scene that was never produced. The death scene was supposed to be done using visual effects. A real live animal was on set much to the enjoyment of the crew.
