Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Live Free or Die Hard

I was just rewatching all the Die Hard movies on blu ray.In Live Free or Die Hard, there is a scene where John first talks to the main villain in the car when Justin Long's character is being transported to the main homeland security building. He says to John that he knows all about him and pulls up his service record. The first problem you'll notice if you freeze the screen while the record is up, is an award John received in 1990 for a citation for excellence from the city of "Chicago" for his help in stopping the Chicago airport terror incident..referring to the events of Die Hard 2. Anyone who has watched that movie clearly knows it took place in D.C. at Dulles international airport in Washington, D.C. Second, in his service record it has him listed as working with the New York City police Robbery/Homicide division from 1985-1994. In Die Hard 2, which takes place in 1990, John clearly states that he transferred to work for the "Los Angeles" police department when he moved to L.A. to be with his wife. So, we assume he stopped working for NYPD not long after the first movie in 1988, transferred to LAPD, then back to NYPD sometime before the 1995 events of Die Hard with a Vengeance. Seems like this was just laziness on the part of the editors.
