Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Lost in Translation

I first heard of this film in a 'shoegaze' (a style of music) forum where someone posted that three of my all time favourite bands, 'Death in Vegas', 'The Jesus and Mary Chain' and 'My Bloody Valentine' where rumoured to be featured in the soundtrack.
Normally I would be very keen to see these bands featured in any film, but when I read that it was to be a 'romcom' I was doubtful that this kind of music would be suitable. My fears were somewhat allayed when I read that Sophia Coppola was behind it, but when I saw the film I did not expect to be blown away as to just how appropriate the music was to the film.
Songs from these bands were featured every time Bill Murray was in a taxi.

It's my favorite film soundtrack of all time. Every song on it is perfect. I listen to this album pretty regularly, ever since the film came out.

This soundtrack (and movie) changed my life.
