Got to admit the original stair crawl scene, hands down. I was backing away from the screen even as Kobayashi was backing away from Kayako! LOL!
As far as disturbing, it has to be the scene where Takeo stumbles down the street with the fetus in his knapsack ugh!

This film is full of spine-tingling moments, the first one for me was the moment where the guy finds the ghostly boy in the house, asks hims questions then the camera pans back and suddenly in the silence the boy makes that terribly un-natural cat-like sound. And of course the stair scene you mentioned, that throaty clickling sound was really something. Or the cat in the wardrobe Welcome to creep-o-land!

I've seen all the Ju-ons and the remakes before this one (except Ju-On the curse 2) and this is definitely the most scariest.
The stair scene in this one is the scariest part, it's the most scariest stair scene in all the movies.
And also the bit when u see kaana walk up the stairs with blood all over her and you see her jaw missing. -

The attic scene beat my ass, I'd put that very very narrowly in front of the stairs scene because both are up there.
Also, at the beginning, and people barely notice, but when they were just showing the outside of the house, you can see the ghost slowly creep out on the balcony ugh. -

When Rika wakes up at night, just to see Kayako staring at her, from the head of the bed and Toshio sitting on the bed.
My God! That gave me the creeps! And of course, I was afraid to wake up at nighthahahahahaahah -

But you have to admit, that scene in Rika's bed with Toshio & Kayako WAS really creepy yoiks! My wife (who will never watch a Ju-On movie as long as she lives) told me she had a nightmare from seeing that scene on a commercial! LOL!

Sorry but I found that bit where Takeo stumbles out of the phone box and those 2 people are like WTF, really funny. I don't know why, but it just amused me XD I probably have a sick mind.
The Kayako/Stairs scene was definatley the best in the film.

most of movie creep me out
The part that really creeps me out was
when girl wakes in the middle of the night and finds the boy and girl looking down her,
that was scary
(if that ever happend to me i would have ran out my house

the stair scene HANDS DOWN!
I saw the movie once by myself, but i didn't pay much attention to it.
but then i saw it again at my friend's house.
right when her face just slowly POPS OUT from the stair thingy, we screamed so loud. lmao.
and the part where she wakes up and finds the lady bent over her.
i think it's her eyes that makes all those scenes so scary.
i'm sure if she had a blank stoned-stare it wouldn't have been so creepy.
