I know that the 2nd film made slightly less domestically with $100 million whereas the first film made $125 million. I do wonder why is that the 3rd film wasn't released in 2006 since I don't think another film would happen because of the deaths of Bernie Mac in 2008 and John Forthsye.

I don't get why they haven't done a third at all? Both were huge box office hits regardless if the first made more than the second.
