He spoke a hybrid of American and English/Australian, I can't even tell b/c it's pretty jumbled and he tends to mumble throughout the movie. But didn't Alex live in NYC?

Ledger mumbled in every damn movie he was in! I don't get the admiration for him, he really sucks. Alex did live in NYC but we don't know where he grew up. Many people in NYC have varied accents.

Yes He was great in The Dark Knight.. But to be honest he really wasn't that great of an actor in anything else.
