Matter of taste?

First off, I don't want to question that the perception of movies is quite different and ratings are not entirely convincing. I have read the other threads and its not about 'some people liked it' or 'tastes differ'. I think even people who really like a movie are able to value it roughly. For example from time to time I enjoy (actually i don't really know why) watching an Adam Sandler movie while knowing it is what it is.
Maybe there was one scene or another but overall? Am I missing something? Where is this movie above mediocre? I really tried to understand it but it felt like the only original thing was to do a teen comedy level story with adults. -

I know this is an older post, but I agree. My brother had been bugging me for some time to see it ("you haven't seen Old School!? How have you not seen it? Go watch it." kinda thing.)
I am a big fan of almost all of the actors, and generally enjoy movies of this type, so I was looking forward to checking it out, but this just wasn't that funny or amusing. I have no idea why it's so highly touted.
Who knows, maybe it was a frame of mind at the time. Maybe I needed another beer before watching it. I dunno. But yeah, it most likely just comes down to a matter of taste. People love it, but I'm not in that group.
