Ok so Rachel finds her body and they give her a proper burial. Turns out that was a bad idea, but why? It doesn't seem to me anything changed. She killed ppl before without a problem. What has changed?
Seems to me there should have been more consequences like she goes on a murderous rampage and doesn't need the tape anymore. Perhaps in her reduced state (trapped in the well), the tape acts as a kind of lure to get people to enter her universe. Once you see the images, you are forever linked to her dimension where she can kill you at any moment but does it 7 days in honor of how long it took her to die.
But when Rachel finds her physical body and frees her, she can exist freely in our dimension. Now that would be pretty crazy.

Finding her body and giving her a proper burial are a red herring - up until that point the film plays out like a standard ghost story and when Rachel passes her deadline it seems that what she did was effective. It's only after that, when Noah dies, that she realizes that "finding rest" wasn't what Samara wanted at all.
