I was expecting the worst and didn't get it. This film was no worse or better than the original! And, I thought Adriano was a better actor than his father! Some of the most beautiful locations I've seen in films, and excellent cinematography.

God it was horrible. It wasn't tyhe worst movie ive ever seen, but it was pretty shocking. The tone changed like 5 times, from comedy, to horro, romance to hard out drama. And the ending, omg, the ending, why why why. Madonna was crap, especially in the begining, she wasn't as bad at the end, the dude was all good. and what the hell was up with the machoism in the middle, the guy was such a dick 4 a while there, it was kinda scary to watch.

Sry, my english isnt that good, but i realy liked the movie.
To me it was Madonnas (i am not a fan of her, i hear radio sometimes in my car ;)) best acting preformence of all her films and a realy good acting job in this case overall. The story of the film around love, other cultures and the relationship about rich/ poor male/female, was great. Abselutely watchable, for men as well (probably specialy for men)
I realy dont understand what the poster above me realy means - the ending is fantastic - i mean thats how it sometimes comes if u love a woman with a richer man as you, a ritchy guy

I was expecting the biggest pile of crap, like watching Armageddon, but what I got was something quite dark, touching and funny. Really wasn't so bad, people seem to be just over-reacting. There are far FAR worse films to hate on. This really doesn't deserve the over the top criticism it got.

Yeah, I actually felt bad for Amber and Pepe at the end. I've seen worse. Transformers2? Wolverine? SemiPro? See, there are a lot more movies out there that are not as engaging/entertaining as this one.

TO me this movie is shockingly good. Of course its not Clockwork orange nor Funny games or so,but this is truly one of the best romantic dramas ever. Im a huge fan of M (not her filmsshe has some hoorrible crap in her filmography). But this one is exceptionally touching in my opinion. It deserves at least 6. I voted 8 BTW

linda303, (and all others who liked this crappy movie) you clearly have a very poorly developed taste and probably had little education. I feel sorry for you. This movie sucks hard. Ritchie and Madonna made complete fools of themselves with this piece of junk. After 30 minutes I turned off this complete waste of time. My rating: 1 star.

My goodness! You are talking about people's individual tastes and then correlating that to their education? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Perhaps a long course in Critical Thinking would be best for you! I have a PHd in Sociology and a Bachelor's in critical thought and debate. Believe me, these people are as entitled to their opinions as you believe you are to yours..however broad and sweeping your generalisation was.
My own opinion: Adriano was absolutely better than his father was because his voice is better, and he acted outside of his mother tongue. Giancarlo may well be a better actor overall, but his part in the Lina Wurtmuller version was done in his native tongue, and he still sounded like a rube.
There was nothing wrong with this movie except for the lead actress. Had Cameron Diaz or Meg Ryan played the roll, most everyone would have loved it. And if you don't understand the tenderness that Giannini showed to Madonna while he was ripping at her clothes (and could have easily raped her) but said "no!"then you didn't get it at all. You see only the feminist side. You don't see the human side. -

I saw this movie on cable from mid-movie, didn't know who were the actors and actress (didn't even think Madonna until I came here to check). I thought it was pretty good, not knowing it's a remake or anything.

I totally agree.Didn't think it was that bad,honestly.Don't understand what people are on about.If Madonna were not in it,the rating would be higher,I believe.And the ending was somehow different from what you can expect in a Hollywood blockbuster.Yep,no happy ending,and people should also give credit to that.And the acting wasn't that bad either.The story and script are full of clichs,granted,but there are lots of movies much worse out there,especially rom-com,and most of them with a happy ending.I rate it 5 out of 10.Nothing great,but no stinker either.

I watched it a little bit ago for the first time and was shocked that I didn't hate it completely.
I did think it would have been much better if Madonna wasn't the leading lady. Her range is flat. The guy was good, though.
The beginning shouldn't have had so much comedy crap in it. If this was made as a full on romantic drama I think it could have worked. And yeah, without Madonna. -

I would have to agree with your post, the original one posted in 2007 as well, Except for a few things. First I wanted to express how much I disgusted the critic reviews on this. It was a complete and total bashing session. These critics that make a living writing this crap, seem to always get it wrong! Honestly, every movie that comes out is bad and when these critics bash on movies like this one, they really should consider a sabbatical from films in order to appreciate what films are about. I understand they also have to be selective on what they love too but when your bashing 90% of everything you watch, I think it's time to quit or get fired! Because you don't like movies!! That's like a wine critic, who does not like the taste of grapes and berries or even the wine They just critique it for a living. I need to find a professional site that reviews movies for real, based on what is going on in the film, what do you feel, where you suppose to feel that, how where the character developments? Did they evolve? Did the learn? Was the camera work intact and skill full? With no biased opinions And a site who can realize that one of their critics is burnt out or is reviewing the wrong genre of their interest! You got to like a melodramatic satire, if your gonna review one! Don't review a comic-book movie like Green Lantern, when you hate comic books!! Makes sense?? Ok I said my 2 cents on that.
Here is what happened in my experience: first, I have never heard if this movie before, I was like, when did this come out?? I missed the 1st 5mins if it because I caught this by accident but I was intrigued from the get go. My impression was, Oh Madonna is doing a low budget film? Maybe that will be good for her So I watched, with no expectations, no hatred for Madonna, clueless on the director, plot, reviews, budget of film or anything about it. But as it started out, I could not stop watching, I wanted to see how this goes, what happens next to this " rich bich" Is that not what movies are suppose to do? Or do they all need to have a budget of $150 mil, cast of overpaid actors, explosions and sex?? This is definitely that kind of movie, who said it had to be in order for it to be good? The critics did! They bash it if it's not their blockbuster criteria And have no kind judgment if a movie about who they are as a person. That's right them, critics, media, Hollywood, rich people.. This movie was about you the first half and you did nit like the reality of it!! So you tell the world not to see it! Interesting!
But I am not saying this movie was the best thing since slice bread, I am just saying it's not near as bad as what I have read about it today. I came to read the reviews to see what people thought about the ending and so on? If a movie makes me come looking for that, if it interests me enough to read several reviews that represented Scrooges view on Christmas, then it's worth watching! Movies like this one are what they are snd what it is this, a mediocre cast, low budget set, actors not maunstream or Oscar winners or really noted for acting ( Madonna), and a pretty well known director known to shake up the film and stir up conflict. That's what it is! It it's true form, without it's hatred for Madonna, or expectations for Guy Ritchee, or bias from bad reviews.that's what the movie has to work with, that and the story and how these cameras are gonna interpret the story as guy wants it with those basic tools! Do you expect to eat the best steak in your life when you go to Sizzler? if you get that best steak there you should get out more but if you don't, don't go ramping around the town and bash the steak you ate, what a horrible waitress I had, the seats were uncomfortable and the feel in that place was just so ordinarily lame! See what I mean? Don't expect to see the best movie of your life or the best film of the year when you go to the sizzler! ( no offense sizzler, great salad bar tho)
The story itself was interesting and entertaining and at some points of the plot irritated me, some points made me laugh, some made empathetic, some satisfied ( I was satisfied and encouraged in the change of relationship the characters had) an I felt pissed and dissatisfied with the ending But you know what? Maybe all those emotions were what Guy Ritchee wantedmaybe? You don't know, he is known to shake the emotion tree and twist your temper isn't he? People have to understand that movies are no longer black and white anymore, they are color! Movies get left to die, like this one because they did not make you cry nor did it make you laughed until you peed yourself and it did not give the rush you wanted.. but to truly appreciate and enjoy movies you have to put your self in the story, from the point of vew of any character you wish to be, and to let the dialogue and visuals take you through the story with what ever emotion you want it to be If it's the directors intended emotion or if it's your own choice emotion Let the
