I like the idea of guy Pearce for Roland he's an amazing, versatile actor and if you need any more convincing simply see The Proposition.
By the way Daniel Craig is a terrible choice, in my opinion. I dont see that at all. Almost as much as I dont see Thomas Jane in the role.
The girl from 28 days later (forget her name) would be good as Suzanne.
I could see Edward Norton as Eddie and even though I never much cared for him as an actor in the past, I could see Colin Farrell playing that role as well.
How bout Liev Schrieber as Walter?

Hugh Laurie for Roland is the perfect choice.
I think you need relative unknowns for Susannah, Eddie and Jake.

Colin Ferral and Edward Norton are both too old for Eddie, I was under the impression Eddie was in the 25-30 range and neither really look like that, especially Norton.

Rusell Crowe would be great but I would love to see Clive Owen as Roland, I think he'd get across that menacing, bad-ass quality really wellI think Casey Affleck could do a pretty solid Eddie Dean, and David Carradine as Flagg would be sweet.

              Not so obvious choices.
Since we seem to be repeating ourselves, and most if not all of the choices would be fine. I thought I would throw out a few long shot names:
Roland - Damian Lewis - Jim Caviezel - David Rees Snell
Eddie - Kyle Gallner - Casey Affleck - Gabriel Macht
Susannah - Thandie Newton - Zoe Saldana
              Father Callahan: David Caradeen
Randal Flagg - Kevin Spacey - Mike Myers - Johnny Depp - Denzel Washington

ha i laugh at daniel craig, I still laugh at him as James Bond, the man can not do suave and I am rather sure he could not brood to well either. am not so impressed with edward norton playing an eddie idea isn't eddie meant to be late 20's? Norton just doesnt look care free enough for the eddie of my mind, but i suppose that is the beauty of book, eddie is eddie for me not some crap actor's or rubbish directors version, I think it would be an absolute fantastic piece of film making but im also scared that they may take the harry potter route and destroy the memory of my childhood reading

there has been a lot off good ideas for the cast but the 2 that ive read here that are my persona;l favs are
Susannah : Naomie Harris, her portrayal as selena in 28 days later would be fantastic as susannah
                    and my personal fav
Ron perlman as cort up until reading that here it had never crossed my mind but now i cant get him out of my head he would be perfect as cort and like someone else said i can just see him snarling 'maggot' lol
as for the rest roland, eddie, jake, father callahan etc im still not sure who could play them, but ive enjoyed reading these posts keep em coming.

I think think the only shot this ever has of being made is as a sci-fi mini series. They did a good job with Dune.
I have posted some of the people I think could pull of some of the characters, but the world moves on and by the time someone has a good idea for someone, they will be too old to do it, if it ever gets done.
Still, it's fun, so here are just a couple.
Flagg/Walter/Ageless Stranger Hugh Jackman (no way he could pull of Roland, but I think he could do justice to Flagg)
Gina Torres, from Serenity as Sussanah
L.Q. Jones (He was the cowboy, government guy, Webb from Casino), has that wavery voice perfect for Jonas
Can't picture anyone but D.D. Lewis as Roland, and don't really see that happening for sci-fi.
Ryan Reynolds as Cuthbert and Maybe even due sort of a dubling and have a little makeup/CGI to change him slightly into Eddie.
As we see the world through the gunslinger's eyes a queer dubling of people and places would add something of the true depth and mastery of the series.

After perusing through all of your choices and mine, I have created my ultimate dream cast for the Dark Tower on screen:
                          Roland - Sean Bean
                          Susannah - Naomi Harris
                          Eddie - Shawn Reaves
                          Eldred Jonas - Rutger Hauer
Gasher - Ron Perlman / Bob Hoskins
Walter O'Dim - Michael Douglas, Michael Emerson, or Michael Keaton (hehe)
                          Balazar - Andy Garcia
Cort - Ron Perlman / Clancy Brown
                          Callahan - Clint Eastwood
Tick Tock Man - Alexander Skaarsgard
Jack Mort - Adrien Brody with thick rimmed glasses, not buff like in Predators
Blaine the Mono - Douglas Rain (did HAL) get some clips from John Wayne movies
                          Finli O'Tego - James Gandolfini
                          Joe Collins - Joe Pantoliano
                          That's all I got:
Others that need to be casted: Mia, Balazar's men, Susan, Young Roland's ka-tet, Jake, Crimson King voice, Ted Brautigan and Dinky, Sheemie, Jonas's ka-tet, Rhea, Roland's parents, Vannay, the different ages of Mordred, and many more Patrick Danville too

Stan Brakhage, guys. I'm kind of glad there's something here, even if it is completely off topic. I bet most of you would be very disappointed by this film. Anyway, I have read King's books and the last few were really disappointing. The first few were quite good though.
The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that.
