I did enjoy this film but have realised an even bigger plot hole. It would be a matter of public record they could check - they had the John Doe name and the date of death and even potentially the date and approximate area of burial. I think it would be very easy to check which grave he was in - this would be held by local government.
Or they could even break in. Surely easier than the plan in the film.
