Mine has to be Daniela Farinacci's. She was so convincing, and incredibly honest. It's pretty brave to make such an unlikeable character so realistically non-endearing. Her scenes in the police office are devastating, and the scene where she leaves her kids with her neighbour is shattering. Sublime work from an underrated actress.
I also loved Kerry Armstrong (wow), Geoffrey Rush, Rachael Blake and Leah Purcell.

I found her character likable. She didn't excuse herself from her demand for honesty from the people in her life. Her unflinching tactlessness, her 'let the chips fall where they may' attitude endeared her to me. Farinacci's performance was compelling- maybe a little too good! I found myself watching her acting because it was so good, which interrupted my suspension of disbelief!
I enjoyed Glenn Robbins' performance. The delivery of the line 'Leon!' when he opens the door of his ex's house was priceless.
On reflection, I agree with you, Wendy88. That's two for Farinacci! I'll check in again next month to see if anyone else has voted 😉

I thought this was one of the best acted films I've seen for a while.
Barbara Hershey was excellent. Her scenes with Patrick were very interesting. The irony was that although Patrick was the patient, we actually learned far more about the insecurities of Valerie Sommers.
I thought the best performance was perhaps LaPaglia: Headstrong and stubborn, yet vulnerable and deeply flawed.
At times you wanted to punch him! Yet at other times, like the scene where he is shown up by the pretentious dance teacher, a lot of people could identify with him.

            such an unlikeable character
I thought she was excellent, as were all the actors, but I cannot understand why you thought she was "unlikeable". I thought she was the most honest and rational of all the characters. The only one (apart from the woman cop) who did not do something wrong, although even she may have contributed to the trouble in a small way. (By threatening to cut her husband's balls off if he messed with their marriage she might have decided him to hide the fact that he had, in all innocence, picked up a woman late at night).
