The first time I saw this movie the infant was being breastfed by a village woman. the second time I saw this film, years later that scene was missing. did anyone else see the original ending?

That's interesting, I wonder why they would randomly cut a scene from the movie years later.

I saw the movie when it came out, and later bought the DVD. The endings were the same, and there was no breastfeeding scene in the deleted ones.
