Just watched movie for the umpteenth time(I really love this movie, cry every time) and finally realized that the arm that pulls Joe free from bus is Emily's arm, not the pilot's. Am I being dim or did anyone else notice it?

Marilyn..you're right, I just noticed the same thing after seeing the movie this morning. The original arm that reaches for him is a woman's arm with a peasant blouse look, but when he comes up from the water, the pilot is the one helping him.
Saw this movie for the first time earlier this year but just noticed this yesterday. -

Watched it for the first time last night and noticed that bit straight away because when it happened, I was thinking, 'Oh get real!! She cannot still be alive and not have communicated with him by now!' But when they then showed the pilot getting him out of the water, I figured it was just a small thing the filmmakers wanted to do to probably see if people like us will talk about it some 6 six years after the movie was made as it seems.. ha ha

The pilot also had a peasant shirt. I believe he had taken it off to dry as he would have been sitting around in wet clothing for an hour while Joe regained consciousness.
I agree that the arm / hand seemed feminine but the pilot was also not a very big guy.
