I agree. I actually personally felt that this movie was really good. I don't know, maybe it was because the third one crushed my expectations, but I just think the fourth was good. The Djinn (his human form, anyway), while still no Divoff, was world's better than the professor, and the story was just overall more engaging and interesting.
I too kind of wondered why he couldn't simply just make her love him to grant the wish. I mean, shouldn't he be able to if that is what she wished, even if that meant him making her love him as in actually him, not who she thought he was? He explains in this movie that he supposedly cannot force human love, that it must be given freely. As you illustrate, though, then how could have have granted the professor's wish in the previous movie? My guess is maybe since the wish effected him (it was him with whom she had to fall in love) he could not just simply grant it. Or, maybe because she wished that SHE could love him.
That's probably the best possible explanation. Maybe he cannot truly effect true human love. After all, the two girls he gave to the professor in granting his wish were apparently not actually human. They were vampires, or succubi, or something. They were likely demons he brought just to fulfill his purposes. Maybe if the professor had wished for himself to fall in love with somebody, the Djinn equally could not have granted the wish.

Maybe the Djinn was able in the third movie to say instead of romantic love he interpreted "let them love me" or whatever to mean sex. Still wouldn't really explain why he couldn't have done the same in the fourth one though.

And yes I thought this one was much better than the third one, though still not great or anything. The third one suckedthe human side of the Djinn was awful and it was much more of a typical teens running around then one by one get killed kinda thing where at least the fourth one tried to create more of a story that mattered.

Yep. A big improvement on the suck-ass ****ty third film.
