    the subplot makes a big deal in the latter part of the Ep re: the Vulcan engineer who learns of his father's ill health and possible impending death. then we have to endure not only Archer but Trip pleading with him to "call your father!" and the whole third grade story about regret not asking a girl to dance
    I find it a bit frustrating that a franchise that's been so progressive in so many areas hasn't yet found it's feet or an actual voice re: actively ending dysfunctional relationships when they are detrimental to one of the people involved. I.e. a character going NC, or 'no contact' and sticking with it.
    it's not such a complex topic that it couldn't be covered in a 44 min. show as a sub plot. I find it fairly easy to explain even though a LOT of people find it uneasy to accept socio-politically.
    or am I expecting too much from a franchise that's been willing to confont racism, fascism, sexism, misogyny, et al?
