I think Gervais got way too arrogant himself

I know this is all after the fact since season one aired 20 years ago..
So anyway, my thoughts now after getting reacquainted with some of series.
Gervis didn't anticipate that he would be voted off the island. He didn't bother trying to make alliances with other members of the tribe. I had a bad feeling about his position as soon as they saw his family. Most of the women in the tribe loss respect for Gervis when he told them that he hadn't married the mother of his children yet. It was a hot topic with the members of the tribe, and all behind his back too. That was real shady of them. I think they needed a reason to get rid of Gervis cuz he was definitely a threat to them. He really needed that million dollars for his new family.
Another reason I thought what happened to Gervis shady was how they could have opted to see him do well at least up until a point.
But that's not how the game is played anyway.
