At the end of the Movie she tells Keanu Reeves that she wants him to remember her when she was not extremely ill, she wants him to remember the good times they had, she wants that to be his memory of her. It's understandable that she wanted that, but you know what? That is a cop out, he was willing to be there for her every step of the way until her dying breath because he loved her, he asked her to marry him for goodness sake and that offer still stood even when he found out she had cancer.
At the end of the Flick she said she could cope with her dying days as long as he remembers her during the good times. She obviously didn't want him taking care of her when she starts to get really really sick, the thing is she missed the point, i don't even think Sara knew what love was, love overlooks things like that, which is what Reeves was trying to tell her.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter if your loved one is ill, if you love them you'll stand by them especially when you had a great relationship.
Some people on this board said that he didn't mean anything to her, i disagree, i think she may have loved him, she just didn't want him pitying her in any way and seeing her frail and weak because that's what ends up happening with a lot of Cancer victims.
Still, it was heartbreaking that the film ended like it did, he respected her, so he gave her what she wanted even though he protested at first. If the Cine ended with them walking off holding hands deciding to still get married and be together, it would still be a short lived marriage, but it wouldn't be as depressing.
