I'm not a father so I can't really say from experience, but I would think that you would forever be angry at someone who broke your child's heart. I'm talking about the Owen Wilson character by the way.

As I remember it, it is only stated that they broke up. I can't recall where it is stated that he dumped her or otherwise initiated the breakup. In fact, there is a scene where Pam tells Greg pretty matter-of-factly that they weren't right for each other. She seems OK with them not being together.

It is exactly the opposite. Judging by how protective Jack is, of his daughter; he was glad that he did not have to intervene since they were not seeing each other. Most fathers are hesitant to allow their daughters to even see other guys, as long as they are still alive.
