Brittany?? I think you mean Bridgett. And yes, actually I think he was already tired of her hanging around him (she is obviously needy and leaches on him for drugs)..I think he wanted to hang out with some girls who were more chill and down to earth, hence why Sam had a 'thing' for Bridgett.
I thought it was remarkable that they showed a human side to Trina Sinclair, the snooty bitch (ginger and bridgett's rival in field hockey and school in general)the fact that she told bridgett while crying ' he (jason) is a cherry hound. just once someone should not give that beep the satisfaction.." meaning she obviously lost it to him, and she had hopes that by reaching out to bridgett (and ginger) that she could (by living through ginger) NOT give it up to jason.

At any rate I think a lot of what was said about Sam could be applied to Jason too, and not just the cherry hound bit either.
There was a definite reason. Despite the two of them (Ginger and Brigette) hanging around Sam, who she was after. I would rate Ginger as being prettier than Trina. A lot prettier, actually. I know some people think Trina was good looking, but I don't see it, personally. That's just how it is, I guess.
Early on in the film, Ginger did try to challenge Trina, and she took exception to it. There were definitely reasons why Trina was like that. Also, because she was different, i.e. the way she dressed etc.
