Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Tenchi Forever!: The Movie

    Citizen_David — 20 years ago(April 18, 2005 08:19 PM)

i know that the second Tenchi movie and Tenchi Universe kind of hinted at this, but i am surprised to see that Tenchi actually chose Ryoko.what i am angry at is the fact that they never make it a solid point.they are talking and talking, and then the movie endswhat is up with that?!
and i know that not a lot of people have access to this moviei found the dvd on ebay and jumped on the chance!

Kiyone's a bit of a badass though, but the thought of him being with KiyoneI just can't see them like that. Mihoshi thoughJesus, Tenchi would have a field day every day.

lolwell in my mind, i see Tenchi noticing how hard she works and how much of an effor she puts into everything, and how different that is from Mihoshi, Ayeka, and Ryoko, and he would fall for her like that. He would most likely be killed by Mihoshi after a week, by accident!

Lol! It's funny how he's so shy with them at times. It's like he's never encountered a girl before and just doesn't know what to do with them which gives the series a bit of comic relief. And yeah, within one week of being with Mihoshi, she would find herself being convicted of gross negligent manslaughter. Don't you think Tenchi Muyo's a bit "girlish?", or am I wrong?

it appeals to women's emotions, but guys feel the same way most of the time. Tenchi was raised without any real female influence in his life. So when 6 girls are just thrown into his life, and half of them fall in love with him, it kinda throws him for a loop. But he remains a gentlemanmost guys would be perverts when it came to the same situation!

Tenchi reminds me of myself when it comes to girls. The way he handles them and speaks to them etc. I used to be quite shy with girls and everytime I watched Tenshi I would think: That used to be like me! But I respect girls, even though a lot of them do my head on some occassions. It's cute how these girls who are very pretty and could want any other animated male out there, just want this dude. Even though it has some feminine elements, I like it, even though some of my family members have "masculinity issues" and take the mick out of me for liking some "girlie" cartoon, I just tell them to "go f u c k" themselves!"
I like Japanese cartoons regardless of their content or target market.
It's not just the whole suspense of who-will-he-go-for? plot I'm into, it's the humour as well. Especially in episode 2 where Ryoko wants her gems back and Tenchi assumes she wants his testicles; and in the next episode where she starts feeling him and goes a bit lower. That had me cracking up. I thought: Isn't this meant to be for kids?

Yea, Tenchi can definitely be a role model when it comes to girls. He treats them with respect and doesnt take advantage of their feelings. He's only used physicality on Ryoko once and that was to protect his 'daughter' in the second movie.
A good quality show should have some feminine elements to it, or else it just becomes a show only juiced up guys can watch. No one wants pure unadulterated violence when it comes to their shows. They want some emotion to their characters.
And japanese cartoons are meant for EVERYBODY.they have the most perverse things there. America tries sooooo hard to cover it up when it comes here, but you KNOW what's what when you see it. That's why i love anime!

You can tell the grade of a countries take on morality by the amount that it censors anime imports.
I couldn't believe it when I saw how much of the original Tenchi OVA was cut when Cartoon Network got hold of it. They cut half of the crude jokes out.
The same for shows like Blue submarine number 6, where they airbrushed out all of the smoking, or Sailor moon and CSS, where they axed pretty much the last half of both series because they had gay charaters in them.

yeait's a shame. All you have to do is look at Dragonball and Dragonball GT if you want to see some insane editing and censoringit's incredible how much money they spend on trying to censor it.
Im gonna have to get the OVA of Tenchi in Japanesei KNOW im missing out on that one!

Some of the censorship that I've seen has been just plain silly, and almost all of it has been because "We can't show that to children", which kind of begs the question, why didn't they just choose a childrens anime in the first place, rather than censoring one for teens.
In the case of CN, they're just prudish, but other companies like 4Kids are downright nasty, they purposfully try to 'remake' anime, even going so far as to cut two or three episodes together to make an entierly new episode with an altered plot just to make it their own. They also change the names and locations to trick people into thinking that they are an American made cartoon.

They broadcast the complete unedited BDZ and Naruto on TV in China recently, and it was far cooler than watching the dumb cut version on Cartoon Network.

I'm mildly confused about how this fits in with the series.
I was certain that the series said that he definetely ended up with Ryoko, and now it says that he might have ended up with her.

well in the movie, he definitely ends up with Ryoko, but all the movies take place in a different timeline, also most likely, dimension than the series. Example being Kiyone, who only appears in Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo, and who does not exist in Tenchi Muyo at all, is in all three movies as Mihoshi's partner.

It's nice to see another person who likes the idea of Tenchi/Kiyone together. Don't get me wrong I like the whole Ryoko with Tenchi idea, but not as much as the other one. Seems like there isn't a majority of supporters for it, but it's kool to see someone else here who likes it.
You can also see alot of the unedited animes on youtube, depending if they're uploaded yet or not.
As for why you don't see kiddy animes that don't need to be edited, it's because they're all a little scary for people, for example HELLO KITTY. Most of the more mature animes are the better ones anyway example DBZ, Tenchi, Full Metal Alchemist.
