The one with Austin Pendleton who took women hostage and made them his brides. Every time it comes on the beginning of the grandfather and granddaughter talking on the escalator about how the universe started is cut out, and it opens up with the crime scene and the grandfather telling Olivia 'he just kept saying it's a mistake'?

I don't know about this specific episode, but I think generally parts of reruns get cut to put in more commercials. If the talk on the escalator isn't related to the rest of the episode, maybe somebody thought it wouldn't be missed. That's just a guess, though.
